Vivai delle Commande’s beautiful peonies

May is the month of peonies – and the owners of Vivai delle Commande are gearing up to showcase their colorful blooms in the nursery near Carmagnola, Turin, May 14-16th.

Founded in 1994, Vivai delle Commande specializes in these luxuriant and striking flowers, known for their delicate scent and longevity – a favorite both in the West (where they are also dubbed “thornless roses”) and the Orient (where they are said to bring good luck, especially in marriage).

The nursery’s beautiful collection includes approximately one hundred shrubs and herbaceous varieties of peonies, each one catalogued with such painstaking detail that a visit to the show will no doubt be the opportunity to learn something about these flowers – so common on Italian balconies and yet so often unnoticed.
