Velona’s Jungle: tropical-chic atmospheres at the heart of Florence

Velona’s Jungle is in the very center of Tuscany’s capital, in Borgo Ognissanti, just a stone’s throw from the Lungarno: a luxury guest house on the third floor of an elegant mid-century building, ready to welcome curious travelers, explorers and memory collectors.

As soon as you enter the iconic residence, you are immediately struck by its verdant, typically tropical atmospheres. The decor is eclectic. The walls are covered in wallpaper by Christian Lacroix, Ralph Lauren and other prestigious brands, while vintage furniture complements black lacquered wood details and gold or feather accents in accessories. All around, there are paintings of exotic animals and animal-print textiles, as well as velvet and fine materials such as marble.

The structure belongs to the Velona-Grecchi family, descendants of famous Florentine antiquarian Pasquale Velona. The eclectic style of the guest house is the result of his work and his relentless research for unique pieces in historical buildings in Florence, Rome, Naples, London, Paris and Vienna – which we now find here, composing somewhat of a personal “visual Grand Tour”.

Velona’s Jungle has four extremely original suites: “Livingstone” has a sumptuous canopy bed and recalls the moods of a forest on the equator; “Darwin” stands out for luxurious animal-print style; “Fossey” is charming and quiet; and “Durrell” recreates the backdrop of a tropical garden.
