The Student Hotel Firenze Lavagnini: a new concept of hospitality

The Student Hotel Firenze Lavagnini is one of the latest hotels inaugurated by Scottish group TSH, inspired by strong versatility in line with the current trends in hospitality. It is only the first of a series of new openings planned in the next five years.

The structure is located in the historical Palazzo del Sonno in Florence, and with its 20,000 square meters represents a “non-hotel” that can welcome students from other cities, as well as professionals on business trips or creatives in search of a functional place to work from.

The renovation was curated by Archea Associati, while the interiors were designed by The Student Hotel’s team, in collaboration with Rizoma Studio in Bologna. The style is clearly industrial, with hints to the Memphis Group and the 1980s in general – case in point: the colorful neon lights. Every detail was custom designed to create comfortable spaces for the broadest target possible.

You enter the building from an inner courtyard, decorated by street artists. There are 390 rooms, divided in several types: from standard rooms to mini apartments. The hotel also includes a concept store, restaurants, practice rooms for bands, a bike repair shop, gym, swimming pool, meeting rooms and co-working spaces. Everything is imbued with the “may the student in you live forever” motto, coined by Charlie Mc Gregor, who founded the startup behind the Student Hotel concept. This multi-purpose space offers its guests a place where they can live and work together, blurring the lines between social classes and professions, sharing experiences in full conviviality and social interaction.
