The 1900 SS by Zagato: a new season for Alfa Romeo

Here is an Alfa Romeo 1900 SS, designed in 1955 by Carrozzeria Zagato.

It is a fine specimen from the great Alfa Romeo 1900 family – the first real innovation that launched the carmaker’s great season after the war. The series’ history began in 1950 – when the first model was presented at the Paris Motor Show – and lasted until 1959.

For this particular car, Zagato created the body based on a shell-integrated framework that Alfa Romeo started making in 1954 (which other important coachbuilders would later come across, as a trampoline for their creativity, such as Bertone, Touring, and Vignale
