The Kunst Meran-Merano Arte Bilingual Association was founded fifteen years ago, when architects Höller&Klotzner overhauled a building in the historical city center of Merano, in South Tyrol, belonging to bank Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano, and turned it into a contemporary art gallery.
Over these fifteen years, Merano Arte – following a 20th-century cultural tradition upheld by figures such as Ezra Pound, Jackson Pollock, Peggy Guggenheim and Max Ernst – has become an outstanding interdisciplinary and international meeting point for contemporary forms of expression, from music to figurative art, from photography to architecture, from literature to new media.
Local, emerging artist of great talent have found here, and continue to find, a place where they can promote their work. Internationally renowned creatives have organized, and continue to organize, their solo and collective shows in the 500 square meters of the gallery.
It is a place where more than two languages are spoken… a lot more than two.
