Holy Week

A visit to Apulia during the Easter period will always be enveloped in the mysteries of the Holy Week, and dotted with local ancient rites that locals have repeated over and over again, for centuries, always exactly the same.
Among the many Easter celebrations, photographer Luca Briganti decided to document the Holy Week in Taranto with a special focus on the pilgrimage of the Perdúne (the penitents), who walk together down the old town’s streets on Maundy Thursday.
