Fiat-Siata 1500 Coupé Speciale, from the Mille Miglia to a journey around the world

Fiat commissioned the Siata 1.500 Coupé Speciale to race care pilot Ovidio Capelli in the early 1950s; the model was officially registered in Milan in 1954.

The frame and body were by Gilberto Colombo, who in 1946 had founded Gilco Autotelai (using the first letters of his name to create the brand).

The Fiat-Siata Speciale, with its Fiat engine, took part in the Mille Miglia in 1954 and 1955.

As it was sold from owner to owner, it traveled around the world from Europe to the United States, and proved a very popular attraction at the 2010 Concours d’Elegance on Amelia Island, where it was showcased in the “Etceterini” category, dedicated to artisanal race cars made in Italy between the 1940s and 1960s.
