Buongiorno Ceramica! A long weekend for Italian ceramics

After the great success of its first edition, Buongiorno Ceramica! is back this June 3-5, 2016 to celebrate Italy’s long tradition of artistic and artisanal ceramics.

All over the country, 37 cities will turn into open-air workshops, including the world capital of majolica, Faenza; Albissola Marina, where major contemporary artists of the 20th century found in ceramic the best medium to express their talent; Sesto Fiorentino, whose history is forever linked to the famous Manifattura Ginori; Vietri sul Mare, known for its 17th-century production; Grottaglie, where an entire neighborhood – full of workshops carved in the stone – is dedicated to ceramics; Caltagirone, where the presence of craftsmen dedicated to pottery was recorded as far back as the Middle Ages.

Each city will showcase the typical traits of its tradition through special openings of kilns, guided tours, exhibitions and conferences.

Get ready to try pottery yourself, as artists and skilled craftsmen lead you through the number of workshops and meetings included in Buongiorno Ceramica!’s lively program. In perfect Italian style, a range of events will also merge creativity and cuisine: “Cene ceramiche”, “Mani in pasta”, and “Fuochi accesi” are only some of the happenings dedicated to ceramics and food.
