Barrea, Abruzzo of nature and art
This is Barrea, a splendid village in Abruzzo’s National Park.
Looking out to the Eastern end of the lake of the same name – an artificial basin created in the 1950s by a weir on river Sangro – Barrea is a very popular tourist location, located in a region of great natural charm.
Here you can visit the Medieval Di Sangro castle and some beautiful religious buildings, including the remarkable Baroque parish of San Tommaso. The town is also an ideal starting point for a tour of the area of Mount Greco, the Meta massif and the Iannanghera Valley
