We once showcased Anisetta Meletti in a previous article of ours: an iconic Art Nouveau café in Ascoli Piceno, Marche, it is the beautiful city’s “formal living room”, where the famous ‘anisetta con la mosca’ (a distillate with a “fly” in it, that is a coffee bean of course!) has been served for over a century.
Created in 1870 by Silvio Meletti, anisetta has been made in the same exact way for over 150 years, using locally grown anise (Pimpinella anisum) from the clay-rich fields around Ascoli Piceno.
