Wes Anderson presents: Bar Luce
Instead of a movie, this time American director Wes Anderson has put his efforts into designing a bar: Bar Luce, inspired by the atmosphere of Milan cafés in the 1950s and 1960s, opened on May 9th, 2017 in the new location of the Prada Foundation, on Largo Isarco in Milan.
While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in.
And cinema is an obvious element in the mix of aesthetic suggestions that generated this space: Anderson openly declared he was inspired by classics such as “Rocco and His Brothers” by Luchino Visconti and “Miracle in Milan” by Vittorio De Sica.
