Smach: art and nature on the Dolomites

SMACH 2017

Showcase the beauty of a wonderful region through contemporary art. Spark interest for contemporary art leveraging the beauty of a wonderful region.

These are the intertwined goals of “Smach”, an art competition and open-air exhibition set up in nine towns scattered on the Dolomites, between the municipalities of Marebbe and San Martino in Badia, in the province of Bolzano.

The project, now in its third year, promotes a dialog between art and nature to spread knowledge about the history, culture and traditions of the sites where the installations are placed.

The 2017 exhibition, open until September 9th, is dedicated to “Contrast” – the tension and opposition between man-made works and natural environment. Such contrast can coexist with dialog and harmony thanks to beauty, bringing everything together and creating unity.
