Gucci ArtLab: a celebration of business success and creativity
On April 19th 2018, Gucci inaugurated a new 37,000-square-meter center for 800 of their employees working in Scandicci: the Gucci ArtLab is the new hub for excellence and innovation for the manufacture of leather goods and shoes for the famous fashion house, which was founded in nearby Florence in 1921. The goal of the project is to embody the revolutionary aesthetic of creative director Alessandro Michele, contributing to the excellent business grown of the brand.
Gucci indeed has enjoyed extraordinary sales in the past three years: in 2017, a 45% increase in production allowed the company to hire 500 new employees – 100 now at the new ArtLab – and there are plans to hire 400 more this year.
This new center for industrial craftsmanship, and experimental lab for prototyping and sampling shoes and leather goods, is a very real way to celebrate success and invest in the future.
And while the endeavor has sound business thinking behind it, it also was the opportunity to add a touch of artistic creativity, with wonderful murals by Unskilled Worker, Jayde Fish, Ignasi Monreal, Phannapast, Angelica Hicks, Trouble Andrew and Coco Capitán.
