Chapter Hotel: industrial details for New York’s vibe
by Barbara Palladino
Although you might feel like you are in the Big Apple, this is Rome – and the most historical and typical part of the Italian capital city: Hotel Chapter is located in a 19th-centry palazzo on Via di S. Maria De’ Calderari. But its interiors, designed by South African architect Tristan Du Plessis, are meant to echo New York’s urban look and feel down to the smallest details.
Industrial style pervades the space, complementing weathered hardwood floors, velvet upholstery, marble, steel and brass, creating a refined and yet relaxed atmosphere, just like what you would expect in the American metropolis.
Furniture pieces by the greatest names in design – including Tom Dixon, Moroso&Diesel and Seletti – are carefully paired with unique creations by local craftsmen, in an elegant “mix and match” that pays homage to Rome’s creative heritage.
Bathrooms feature granite floors, cement walls and brass fixtures.
On the ground floor, the Chapter Lobby Bar offers spirits and signature cocktails by mixology bartenders, which you can enjoy at the bar or sitting comfortably on the 1950s-style couches, surrounded by exposed brick walls and street art pieces by Cyrcle and Alice Pasquini.
