Bologna: luggage labels from the city of towers
Today we stop in Bologna, the “city of towers” sung by Giosuè Carducci, the “beautiful and sweet Bologna of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s memories.” Before dropping our bags off at the hotel, let’s listen to the song by singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini that starts like this:
(“Bologna is an old lady / with slightly soft hips, / her bosom on the Po Valley, and her bottom up on the hills. / Bologna the arrogant and papal / Bologna the red and fetal, / Bologna the fat and human, a bit of Romagna / but so close to being Tuscany…”)
Now step outside and let the streets of Bologna win you over.
